Lepidium virginicum

Virginia pepperweed

Lepidium virginicum, or Virginia pepperweed, is native throughout the continental United States and is either annual or biennial depending on the climate.

The plant has long, rounded leaves and tiny white flowers.
It is common between stable dunes and other areas exposed to salt spray. The stalks can approach a meter in height and are capped with clusters of tiny white flowers. Its leaves are long and thin with minor serrations.

The plants often grow in thick patches of long stalks that wave rhythmically in the wind.
